Etna to Seiad Valley: A Journey of Resilience and Community
As an avid hiker, I've always been drawn to the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT), a journey that challenges the body and spirit. My recent trek from Etna to Seiad Valley was no exception, and it highlighted the power of human connection in the wilderness.

Here, I met another hiker, a companion who joined me for a while. Their presence was a reminder of the trail's community, a support system that can make all the difference. The final miles, though painful, were made bearable by the knowledge that civilization was near.

The last 9 miles were a blur of pain and determination. I slept through my alarm, leaving at 6:30 AM, and made it to the road. The frustration of the journey was palpable, but the kindness of strangers saved me. A hitch gave me D-Mannose, fruit, cheese, and water, a gesture of generosity that warmed my heart.
Arriving at the road, I knew I couldn't hike the final 5 miles. I skipped them, grateful for the ride to Yreka. The trail angels, Jeff McCabe and Noelle, ensured I got to the doctor and made it to Dunsmuir. Their kindness and support were a testament to the trail's community.
